A Shatner/Conan interview that’s most entertaining for the way it quickly degenerates into a territorial pissing match. Where is the silly, self-deprecating Conan that we know and love? New Conan seems acutely aware of the raised stakes of an 11:30pm time slot - he’s jokingly referenced it whenever guests become exceptionally explicit - and his occasional moments of bitchiness seem almost Letterman-esque. The Tonight Show is one of television’s few longstanding institutions - I could see it changing Conan more than Conan could ever change it.
