And I shall call them… White People.

There are a lot of things that you can get away with… Roger Corman taught me a lot about things being “good enough.”… You’re not doing it necessarily because it’s the cheapest option, but if it works and it only takes 15 minutes, then you have time to work on other things.

The [correct] catch phrase is “if it works for the audience.” It isn’t what the cost is. If it doesn’t work for the audience, then it doesn’t matter how much time and energy you take on it… You do what you think works for the story, and if that’s elaborate and expensive with thousands of extras, fine – that’s what you do. If it’s not, if you’ve got two people in a room – then that’s fine. It’s whatever sells the scene.

-An old, but epic interview with Gary Kurtz (Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back) about producing and filmmaking in general.

Pretty sure this was the first piece of sketch comedy I ever saw. And boy is it great.

CH LA - 12/18-12/20/2009
This past weekend, I learned once again how the right people can change something potentially laborious and stressful into a unique and awesome experience. I’m blessed by the opportunity to work with every one of the fine folk pictured above. Their attitudes and work ethic keep me going even when four hours of sleep and five Diet Cokes cannot. Thanks guys, both for an awesome trip and making even the most work-iest work seem like play. (Dodging the first snow-f*ck of 2009 wasn’t exactly heartbreaking, either.)

I have a soft spot for unlicensed knock-offs. This guy, 99 cents at Party City, is one of the more hilarious I’ve seen recently.

Good to see you again, my friend.

It’s my first time, RED, so be gentle, OK?

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

From the soundtrack of Dangerous Wands, it’s Wizard’s Paradise. We only commissioned the part of the track we needed, but full lyrics below:

WIZARD’S PARADISE
As I fly through the valley shadowed by Dementors
I’m not scared for my life
My wand’s got a phoenix-tail core
Been casting unforgivable curses so long
Even Luna Lovegood thinks my mind is gone.
Never Kedavra’d a muggle didn’t deserve it.
Aurors call me a Death Eater, you know that’s unheard of.

Been spending most our lives
Living in a Wizard’s Paradise
White lady teacher tryin’ to do what’s right
Living in the Wizard’s Paradise
Young angry wizard wants to start a fight
Living in a Wizard’s Paradise
Magic magic magic spells and stuff
Living in a Wizard’s Paradise
Learned a lesson, grew some tonight
Living in a Wizard’s Paradise

Oh snap, here’s a vid I wrote with Ben Joseph and Pat Cassels. Digg it if you dig it!

“This is the definition of fan fiction. We’re making fan fiction.” -Director Sam Reich, on set.
